Zena Andreani (she/her)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #139184
My goal as a therapist is to help you understand your own history; your experiences in suffering, joy, grief, and more, so that you can openly see the person you are today and explore the person you might like to become.
About Me
I was adopted at birth and raised in an interracial household in the greater Los Angeles area. I moved to the Bay Area to study English and Religious Studies at Santa Clara University, and eventually planted my roots here. After settling into a “cooler” climate, I obtained my master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco.
My experience includes over a decade of leadership and clinical service within various community mental health agencies. I have worked with a variety of individuals and families that are in recovery from intimate partner violence, addiction, suicidal ideation, and injurious behaviors.
While I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I will first try to find out what works best for you. My approach starts with getting to know you and learning more about your needs. I will take time to ask about your identity and learn about internal and external influences that drive your sense of self. Additionally, I sometimes lean into a postmodern approach, which means I will focus on your strengths, help you identify solutions, and find meaning in a seemingly anxiety-filled existence.
I do my very best to make sure you are provided with a warm and friendly environment where you can heal, recover, or just learn more about yourself. Feedback from previous clients was that I had an open, humorous, flexible, and interactive style.
In addition to my professional experience, I am a grateful human being also in recovery. I dare not say I will know exactly what you are going through, but my mixture of personal and professional experience allows me to see you without judgment and more clarity.
